A word about Hayward

I'm sure I didn't quite appreciate the collection of 1940s reels and lures like a lot of my friends would, but who wouldn't go gaga over a 143-foot-long, four-story-high sculpture of a musky?
Do we need to even say that it's the biggest musky in the world? Check out the photo below.
Hayward, Wis., is home to the collection of reels, lures and fish replicas, all housed at the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.
And don't be thinking Hayward's just a one-trick pony. No sir. It is also home to the Lumberjack World Championships, which begin Friday, and the Birkebeiner, a 50K cross country ski race that begins in nearby Cable. Durango's own Tad Elliott was second overall in the skate ski division this year at the famous "Birkie."
